Annecy City Guide
Venice of the Alps
Annecy old town: Venise of the Alps
At the water’s edge and foot of the mountains, the “Venice of the Alps” is a delightful maze of narrow, paved streets lined with 17th century buildings in all the colours of the setting sun. Pinks, ochres, greens, blues: the façades are captivating and reflected in the waters of the Thiou and Vassé. As you go meander past the Pont Perrière, your steps will naturally lead you to Palais de l’Île, a must-see, iconic monument, and to the Château d’Annecy, a historic treasure of the Haute-Savoie. Get lost in the streets, walk from bridge to bridge, and revel in the gardens and terraces as you enjoy a deliciously romantic stroll.
